Pre-Work Introduction Mindfulness –  Homework

This introduction to Mindfulness will provide you with insights on Mindfulness and help you to build your own practice.  Our program is based on neuroscience,  structured upon Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, developed in the UK and Canada by Mark Williams, John Teasdale and Zindel Segal.  

Please take this work seriously.  You are embarking on a daily cleansing of the mind, a strength training program for your focus, perception, health, and wellness.  This is an act of self-care and compassion that you are providing yourself.  Weekly, you are provided with the opportunity to download and print the workbooks, view weekly presentations and watch the videos, to gain greater insights and structure your practice.

Click on the image and complete the Registration form.  The form is a series of questions to get you going to consider your path and reason for being in this program. Please download this series of questions and answer them prior to the first session.  You can either send them to me or bring them with you.  All information is held in confidence.

After you registered, you were sent an invitation from Work Mindfulness to join the online community, using the mobile app that we recommend for this course.  IF you have not received it in your email,  check your spam folder. You will need to download the InsightTimer application for Apple here and for Android here and join our Work Mindfulness Group.  In class you will be introduced to others in the group.  You will be working with each other on the practice of being mindful.  To get going, please start practicing Mindfulness before you arrive for your first class:  Use your InsightTimer application on your iPhone or Android and use the Insight Timer every day, simply be mindful of your breath,  For the first week start with Kevin Griffin’s Breathing Meditation, to anchor our breath in the present moment.  

How does mindfulness work, based on the video? Watch this video and record your own thoughts as to how mindfulness impacts your life.  Mindfulness is a special way of paying attention that can help with how you cope with everyday life or bounce back from tough times, and there are great benefits for your physical and mental health. Mindfulness is something that everyone can develop, and it’s something that everyone stands to gain from.
